Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Based on information obtained during the Phase I ESA, the use of the subject property prior to 1882 could not be determined. According to the Tuscarora Township Tax Assessment records and Ms. Karen Stankevich, the current owner of the subject property, the property was developed in 1882 with the current building structure, which was operated as a railroad depot for mainly rail passengers but also for transportation of local raw materials and consumer goods. Ms. Stankevich stated the railroad depot operated until approximately the late 1950s/ early 1960s at which time the building was converted into a gift shop, which operated for approximately forty years (~2000). Since the gift shop operated on the subject property, three other retail/ service businesses have operated on the parcel, an art gallery, a bicycle rental business and another gift shop. Ms. Stankevich indicated the property has not had a tenant since early 2008 and has remained vacant. At the time when the site reconnaissance activities were completed on January 26, 2009, the subject property was also vacant.
