Additional Property Attributes

The property is located within one of main target areas for use of Brownfield assessment grant funds. The property also has high visibility and had a high potential for redevelopment/reuse. The assessment at the property was able to remove the stigma associated with the unknown environmental condition of the property and facilitate the successful ownership transfer. The new owner remodeled the commercial structure for use as a medical office and added new employment to the county.

Former Use: The subject property was occupied by a large single structure from at least 1941 until the late 1940s when the former structure was demolished and two smaller structures were constructed. Interviews conducted reveled the property was likely owned by the western adjacent railroad and used for coal storage. The video store and Ebay business occupying the subject property was in the process of vacating the premises in 2009.
