Additional Property Attributes

Soils with elevated concentrations of benzene, toluene, ethybenzene, and xylenes(BTEX)and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) concentrations were identified in the removal of gasoline and waste oil underground storage tanks at the south adjacent car dealership. Based on this and other historical dealership activities, this was identified as a REC. A historic service ststion was identified on the northwester adjacent property on the 1929 sanborn Fire Insurance map and was considered a REC. The site was identified in the regulatory database in the leaking petroleum storage tank (LPST) due to a release of oil from a storm water drain to the Colorado River reported in September of 1998. However, the release was reported as a one-time release and received closure from the TCEQ, thus making the LPST a historical REC.

Former Use: The now vacant property is a 0.51 acre lot historically used as a service station from 1951-1977 and owned by "Weaver's Bud Texaco Srevice Station". The land is now owned by the City of Wharton. The site is developed with the old service station from 1951 to 1995 as seen on aerial photographs, but is without structures in the 2004 and 2005 photographs.
