Former Use: The subject property is comprised of one large building with two wings that has an approximate footprint of 34,700- square feet and the total size of the property is 2.4 acres. Historically the site was constructed in 1950 as a school and was used until 1976 by Carthage ISD. Approximately, 15 years ago Turner Alumni Association became the caretakers of the subject property and it is now used for community purposes. The ESA indicates that the Turner Community Center was constructed in 1950, and may contain led-based paint, and/or asbestos containing materials. Please note that the TCEQ does not currently regulate asbestos and lead based paint. The applicant should contact the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Environmental Protection Agency for further information on this matter.
