Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The site's industrial history dates back to the late 1800s. The original site occupants consisted of bicycle manufacturers, such as Eagle Bicycle and Columbia/Westfield Bicycle, and the Progressive Manufacturing Company which manufactured horseshoe nails. The site was later operated by the Torrington Company around the late 1940s, early 1950s. It is unclear what specific operations the Torrington Company conducted at the site, however the company was known to manufacture needles and bearings used by textile and shoe industries as well as military aircraft at that time. Following the Torrington Company, the Allied Products Corporation/Phoell of New England utilized the site and performed metal finishing and manufactured industrial fasteners. Most recently, Zeller Tire Retreading occupied the site, formerly conducting tire retreading at the property.
