Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Property was associated with a larger railroad yard operation from 1919 to at least 1993. The Property appeared to be vacant land from at least 1919 to 1967 during the period from 1967 to 1978, it appeared structures and/or materials were placed on portions of the Property. In 1993, Van Rail, Inc. Van Rail purchased the Property. Van Rail leased the Property to Van Andel Propane in 1994. The Property was subsequently developed as a propane storage and transfer station however, due to market conditions, the propane tanks were never filled and sat empty until 2008, when they were removed. The Property has remained vacant since 2008. As of the 2009 reconnaissance, the Property was situated in an area of industrial development, and was located south of Market Avenue and east of the I-196 freeway. The Property was accessible from Frontage Road. One office building serviced by a septic tank and water well was situated on the northern portion of the Property. A railroad spur was located on the eastern portion of the Property and was oriented in a north-south direction. Concrete support structures were situated on the south-central portion of the Property. The remaining portions of the Property were grass or gravel covered.
