Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The site was the location of a former tobacco redrying and threshing plant since 1932. It later expanded to become a large tobacco leaf purchasing, processing, marketing and commercial storage operation. The site was in continuous operation until the early 1990s. It processed little to no tobacco in 1995 and 1996, and was forced into Chapter 11 in 1997. The facilities were auctioned one year later. A four-alarm fire on 22 May 2007 destroyed a portion of the building.
