Funds were used to develop a QAPP, perform a Voluntary Remedial Site Investigation, and begin to prepare a Voluntary Remediation Action Plan as part of the 14,000,000 Enterprise Boulevard Corridor Extension Project funded under the Capital Transportation Plan and a City-wide 90M Bond. In 2010, the City was awarded a 199,994 LDEQ 128(a) Revolving Load Fund grant for removal of the USTs and cleanup of the property. As a result of this project and associated road project approximately 375 pre-construction and construction jobs were generated. This 128(a) grant was successfully closed in 2012, all of the grant funds were drawn, and more than 150,000 of local match was documented, far exceeding the minimum requirements of this grant.

Former Use: The historical Sanborn� Maps have indicated that a fuel storage tank potentially existed in the northern portion of the subject property during the tenure/occupancy by Lake Charles Planning Mill (est. 1894 through the late 1930s to early 1940s). It appears that the tank may have actually been associated with a steam boiler system that existed on the subject property and was utilized in the operations of the facility. In addition, the 1949 Sanborn maps indicates that a gasoline service station, with at least three underground storage tanks (USTs) once existed in the southwest portion of the subject property, at the corner of Ryan and Clarence. Best of our knowledge the building has been vacant and exposed to the environment for approximately 20 years.
