Additional Property Attributes

The Middletown Regional Hospital site was a Clean Ohio Revitalization Project. The applicant applied for a supplimental loan from the Brownfield Revolving Loan Fund to remediate asbestos found in the structure prior to demolition. 9/8/2008 The application including ABCA and CRP was submitted and approved by EPA. Soon afterwards, funding amount was requested to be changed which required all documentation to be resubmitted through the legal process. The final loan document for 750,000 has an effective date of 3/3/2010. Asbestos cleanup was completed prior to this date, but was communicated to and agreed upon by both the State and USEPA. Project is complete and created 16.69 acres of greenspace in a prominent area of the City of Middletown. 6/24- Disbursement request recieved for 750,000. After review of request, several items needed clairification and ODOD is awaiting a response from the Port Authority before finalizing request.

Former Use: The Middletown Regional Hospital has been located on the Property since 1916. The hospital was constructed on the Highlands Second Subdivision plat for this area of Middletown, Ohio. Reference in the directories is also made to the Middletown Hospital Association. The city directories were reviewed to verify the current and historical uses of the adjacent properties. Although the main entrance to the 1964 and 1987 addition is currently located off Sherman Avenue, the address for the hospital is 105 McKnight Drive, Middletown, Ohio. Properties within the vicinity of the hospital were listed as individuals. The general area was developed as residential with individual listings along McGee, Florence, Sherman and Orchard Avenues. According to the Directories, most of the nearby properties are currently residential in use.
