Additional Property Attributes

The BTA was conducted for the City to evaluate a property they acquired from the National Guard. A total of 18 of the State's 56 National Guard Armories were tareted by budget cuts to be closed. Council Grove's armory was on the list. The proposed reuse will be a community center to host community programs. Recognized environmental conditions RECs associated with the BTA Property were identified as the following: the historic vehicle maintenance activities conducted on the property and a covered grease trap. KDHE staff conducted the Phase II. Based on the analytical results from the Phase II, a limited area of groundwater around the building appears to be impaced by TPH-DRO contaminations: near the northeast side of the building and immediately downgradient near the southwest side. TPH-DRO was not present in the groundwater sampled downgradient of the building, indicating contamination is not migrating offsite. It is recommended that the landowner current or previous place a land use control on the property to restrict the future use of groundwater on the property.

Former Use: National Guard Armory since constructed in the 1950's.
