Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Manufacturing of women's jewelry began at the property in 1902 under the name Attleboro Manufacturing Company. In 1908, an associate company called Baer & Wilde was formed and began to produce men's jewelry as well. Together, during World War I, both companies began manufacturing of military dog tags. In 1918, Baer & Wilde absorbed the Attleboro Manufacturing Company, ceased producing ladies jewelry, and focused on men's jewelry. By 1936, distributors merged with Baer & Wilde to form Swank Products, which became Swank, Inc. around 1940. During World War II, the company began manufacturing tools used in producing small arms ammunition, and in 1944 manufactured Bronze Stars and Purple Hearts. As the demand for Swank products increased, so did the need for larger facilities and additions were added to the space to what it is now present today.
