Site Status letter issued by IDEM. Asbestos removal required prior to demolition.

Former Use: The Property is currently occupied with two buildings, the former school and the boiler house. The former school has two floors and a basement, the first and second floors consist of classrooms, lockers, restrooms, offices and hallways. The basement consists of a air handler room, class rooms, and storage area that held cleaning supplies. Dark colored staining was noted on the floor in the air handler room. The boiler house is located on the southeast corner of the Property. ATC observed one 55-gallon drum, multiple paint cans and cleaning supplies in the building. A three foot high concrete structure exists east of the boiler house. Chairs and trash were observed on the outside corner of the boiler house. Miscellaneous debris, unidentified containers, several drums, scrap metal, desks, chairs, and equipment were observed within the two buildings. Several of the containers were labeled as containing hazardous materials, although most of them appeared to be empty and contained trash. A depression and apparent cistern were observed north of the boiler house. Exterior areas of the Property include grass concrete, and asphalt pavement that make up the remainder of the Property. The Property was The current owner is Vermillion County Community Theatre Corporation. Prior historical uses of the Property include a school, a fire department, and residential land. Prior owners include the United Pentecostal Church of Clinton and Virginia Trozpeck.
