Assessment of this parcel is one piece of redeveloping this large, now vacant mill site into a smart-growth town center with housing, retail, and commercial businesses, and community services. This is part of an overall master plan pending acceptance by the town council. The town has received funding for another part of the site from HUD: a $910,000 BEDI grant with $1.8 million in accompanying loan grantees for cleanup and redevelopment. As stated, the bulk of the remediation was in building demolition and capping associated with the new library and hard scape areas. The project is moving swiftly ahead of schedule. The building is in place and road utilities are installed.
