Former Use: The property is bound by Central Avenue on the south, I75 to the north and west, and residential, commercial property to the east. This site is a former automotive assembly plant operated by Jeep, now known as Chrysler. This plant was the oldest automobile manufacturing plant in Ohio until it closed in 2002. The City of Toledo is partnering with the Toledo-Lucas Co. Port Authority (property owner) and U.S. Army Corp of Engineers to design a series of managed wetlands and marshes to enhance the flood capacity of the Ottawa River. Supplemental Phase II activities include sampling and analysis of soils from test pits installed within the limites of the proposed wetlands enhancement project, in order to evaluate subsurface conditions for evidence of petroleum and hazardous substances that could be detrimental to aquatic or benthic organisms.
