Former Use: The subject property consists of one 1 parcel containing 0.37 acres located to the east of South Main Street in Clarkston. The property is occupied by a 5,588 square foot building that was constructed in the 1943. A paved parking lot occupies the southern portion of the property. The building is currently occupied by a real estate office. Standard and other historical sources, which include City of Clarkston Historical Society records, indicate the property was developed prior to 1856. The property was occupied by a blacksmith and other tradesman from at least 1872 to 1914. In 1919, a new building was constructed which housed an automotive sales and service operation and gasoline dispensing operations for an unknown length of time. A fire in 1943 damaged the building and the building was rebuilt and housed a car dealership until the early 1960s. The building was redeveloped and operated as various commercial and office operations. The southern portion of the property was developed prior to 1855 with a building. A wagon shop operated on the property from at least 1858 to 1872. The property was occupied by a dwelling until the 1930s when the house was moved. The southern portion of the property has been vacant and utilized as a parking lot since removal of the house.
