Additional Property Attributes

The Property comprises one parcel totaling 11.09 acres. The Property is located approximately 1.8 miles southeast of downtown Lorain and is one of numerous parcels that were part of the former U.S. Steel Lorain Works facility that encompasses 1,400-acres south of the Black River. The mill was initially constructed in 1895 by the Lorain Steel Company. The mill was expanded in the 1920s by the National Tube Company which became U.S. Steel. In 1989 Kobe Steel and U.S. Steel formed joint venture. RTI and Republic Engineered Products, LLC REP then operated the steel mill until 2003, when they filed for bankruptcy. The Property is currently vacant and absent of any industrial activities from the adjacent former RTI Coke Works property and still existing Republic Engineered Products and U.S. Steel operations. During the 2009 Phase I Property Assessment Update, the following Identified Areas were noted: � Identified Area 1 - Former boathouse on the southern bank of the Black River, which formerly included oil recovery operations. � Identified Area 2 � One above ground storage tank AST AST-E102 is present along the south-central border of the Property. � Identified Area 3 - Piles of slag materials are present in the southern and central areas of the Property. � Identified Area 4 � Numerous 55-gallon drums and tank present in central portion of the Property. � Off-Property sources from former RTI Coke Works and former and existing steel facility operations adjacent to the Property including but not limited to: - SWMU #13 - BOP Sludge Disposal Area Old Dredging Site - SWMU #14 - Lime Wastes - SWMU #18 - Slag and Demolition Waste Piles - SWMU #19 - Miscellaneous Slag Piles
