Additional Property Attributes

In December 2009, Crusader Health Care was awarded 5.3 million to build a new facility in Loves Park. This grant was funded through the Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Facility Investment Program. The 14,000-square-foot Loves Park facility will accommodate four medical providersFamily Practice Physician, a Pediatrician, a mid-level provider, a dentist and specialty clinics including OB/GYN, podiatry and pain management. The new clinic was opened on September 6, 2011. Crusader Community Health is a community-based, not-for-profit, Illinois corporation, whose mission is to serve the Rock River Valley area with quality, primary health care for people in need.

Former Use: The vacant parcel is located in the heart of the 251 Corridor. Due to the historic presence of over 30 filling stations within the 251 Corridor, orphan USTs and petroleum contamination was a highly perceived potential environmental issue for Crusader Community Health, a prospective purchaser. The City utilized its Brownfields Petroleum Assessment Grant Funds to conduct a Phase I ESA on the property. The Phase I ESA identified no past petroleum entities on the property and no additional RECs, which allowed for Crusader Community Health to purchase the property for construction of their new Crusader Clinic Medical Facility. In October 2010, Crusader Community Health held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project. The construction is being funded by 5.3 million dollar stimulus grant and will house providers in family practice, pediatrics, dentistry and other specialty services. The 13,660-square-foot LEED Certified clinic is expected to open in September 2011 and is the first Crusader facility built from scratch.
