Property Highlights

Property is being redeveloped for use as Tiffin University's new multi-sport Recreation Center.

Former Use: The property was occupied by a scrap yard for approximately 100 years. In addition, a former coal gas manufacturing plant operated on a portion of the property, closing in 1908. Existing data indicate contamination to soil and groundwater from these former operations. Tiffin University is completing remediation activities funded in-part through a Clean Ohio Assistance Fund COAF grant of 750,000. Discovery of the former manufactured coal-gas plant remnants during construction activities has increased the remediation requirements that cannot be completed under the COAF grant.
