Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: In 1862, a three-story brick building was constructed on the site for use by the Colon Seminary Company. This structure remains on site today and is the central portion of the property. The seminary continued operation until 1889. At that time, Rev. Isaac Lamb, the inventor of the circular knitting machine, acquired the building and began the operation of the Lamb Knit Goods Co. Additions were made to the building on the east and west sides of the original structure in the early 20th century. In 1972, Lamb Knit Goods moved to a new location and the property was sold to Mr. Cal Shoop. Mr. Shoop used a portion of the building for woodworking and antique sales. The building has been vacant since 1989 and generally used to store Mr. Shoop's collection of antiques.
