Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Usher Mill site consists of two parcels located off of Route 2 in the Erving village center. The property is adjacent to the Millers River to the south and railroad tracks to the north. The site has a long history of manufacturing use and is zoned industrial. The buildings were originally constructed in 1917 and have been used in the production of furniture, shoe heels, and paper. The most recent operator was Erving Paper, which ceased operations at the facility around 1990. The buildings have been vacant since that time. In 2007, an arson fire destroyed three of seven connected buildings. A subsequent owner salvaged materials from the site, including structural beams. The Town acquired the site through tax title proceedings. The Town completed clean up of the site in 2013. In December 2015, the Town was awarded a state grant to construct a Riverfront Park on the site.
