Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The original portion of the subject building on the northern end of the property was constructed sometime in the late 1930s or early 1940s and was utilized as a bar and restaurant. Additions were constructed to the south of the original building in the 1950s, to expand the existing restaurant, and in the 1960s to add a garage and 2nd floor apartment to the subject building. The subject building operated as a restaurant until the late 1970s when it was vacated. Mr. Shoemaker purchased the property in 1981 and has operated an antiques store in the northern portion of the subject building since that time. The central portion of the building is utilized as a residence, and the garage and 2nd floor apartment are utilized for storage space. The northeastern portion of the subject property was originally developed in 1923 with a small gasoline filling station. Reportedly dispenser pumps were located to the north of the building along East US-10 Highway. The gasoline filling station was vacated in the 1950s and remained vacant until 2008 when the building was razed.
