Additional Property Attributes

One building, occupying approximately 31,000 square feet, is present on the 325 Campbell Avenue parcel. Constructed as a supermarket in 1951, its most recent use was an automobile showroom (basement underneath), and vehicle service area (slab on grade) since the 1970s. The second building on the site, occupying approximately 3,000 square feet, is located at the 318 Washington Ave. parcel. Constructed as a meat market in the 1961, it had been utilized as an auto-body repair facility since the early 1970s. The site was redeveloped by CVS for a new pharmacy in 2013.

Former Use: Historically, the site has had several commercial/industrial uses, according to a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) conducted by the Chazen Companies in April 2010. Buildings associated with these historical operations have been demolished. The northern area of the site had been occupied by an auto service/car dealership from the 1940s to at least 1973. The 1973 Sanborn Fire Insurance map depicts a filling station associated with the auto service facility. The 1951 Sanborn map depicts an off-site filling station to the north of the subject sites filling station. This off-site gas station is depicted with three gasoline tanks. In the eastern central and southeastern portions, manufacturing operations were conducted. These operations included New England Stamp and Tube and a piano factory from circa 1900 to at least 1924. Processes included machining, buffing, annealing, and foundry. In addition, the 1924 Sanborn map depicts a gas tank slightly to the northwest of the historical buffing/lacquering building. The contents, purpose, and status of this tank is unknown.
