Additional Property Attributes

The site is owned by the Garden District Commission (GDC), the community development corporation which serves the area. The USTs were removed using EPA ARRA RLF funding in 2011. In order to try and get state closure on this site, additional assessment is needed of the deep subsurface and groundwater to delineate extent of contamination and to see if a risk based approach to closure is an option, or if additional remediation is required. Former Use: SLDC approved a 25,000 cleanup revolving loan fund subgrant to Garden District Commission for remediation of this former gas station site. The Garden District Commission (GDC)(www.gardendistrictcommission.org) is a charitable neighborhood advocacy primarily for the Shaw,McRee Town, Tiffany, and Southwest Garden Neighborhoods. Three USTs and associated contaminated soil were removed on March 24, 2011. Due to remaining contamination, the site is a good candidate for using a risk-based approach to get closure. At closeout (January 2013) of the EPA American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund agreement funding the subgrant, cleanup activities were substantially complete. At present, the property is being used as a neighborhood playground.

Additional Characterization has surficial soils exceeding residential RBTLs onsite and offsite groundwater. COC's did not exceed construction worker standards. For residential use, a corrective action plan is suggested.
