Property Highlights

Site consists of two buildings which are partially connected. The west building is the former Odd Fellows Lodge and the east building is a former theater. The properties are currently vacant.

Former Use: The property consists of two separate brick and wood buildings that were connected some period of time after construction. The buildings were built in 1896 (the Oddfellows Building) and 1910 (the State Theatre Building). The Property lies within the City of La Grande Central Business (CB) Zone and Downtown Historic District. Both were developed as commercial buildings and over the years housed multiple food, beverage, retail, office, residential and assembly uses. The Oddfellows Building is three stories with a full basement and two large ballrooms on the second and third floors. The State Theatre Building is two stories with apartments in poor condition on the second floor. The Oddfellows Building is prominent and very visible in the core downtown historic commercial district of the city. The upper floors have been vacant for years, and although many historic elements remain, the buildings have been neglected for decades and are falling into disrepair. Both buildings were vacant at the time when the City of La Grande acquired the properties on March 30, 2012.
