Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The property lies within Section 34, Township 48 North, Range 4 West in the City of Ashland, Ashland County, Wisconsin. The property is located south of the Timeless Timber facility located at 2200 Lake Shore Drive East, and east of the intersection of 22nd Avenue East and 6th Street East, and is approximately 0.50 acres in size. It is located in a mixed use residential and commercial area located northeast of the downtown area of the City of Ashland. It is currently undeveloped. Historical aerial photographs, interviews, and other historical information indicate the property has historically been undeveloped. Surrounding properties to the west and northwest were originally platted as residential property in the late 1800�s. What appear to be residential structures are present on nearby properties to the west as early as 1939 and as late as 1970. Railroad spur development on surrounding parcels occurred on or before 1970, and was constructed to run from the main railroad line located to the south directly to the manufacturing facility currently Timeless Timber immediately north of the subject property. The spurs were used to transport treated lumber. Chain of ownership information indicates that the subject property was owned by private individuals as early as 1885. Property ownership was transferred several times from private parties to Ashland County between 1885 and 2010 as a result of failure to pay taxes. Ashland County acquired the property through delinquent taxes on April 15, 2010.
