Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The property was used as a cement factory in the early 1900s. A portion of this property was also used for retail gasoline sales and auto repair 1930s-1940s. Buildings were used by JJ Nissen Bakery since 1919 through 2003. During this period, numerous underground storage tanks were installed on this property. Some USTs were filled in-place while others remain abandoned and currently out of compliance. Phase I & II environmental assessments have been conducted and identify petroleum contamination at this property. Four of the tanks are beneath the building and could not be removed previously due to structural issues. Now that the building is vacant and dilapidated, New Garden Park, Inc. intends to abate the internal asbestos and lead based paint, demolish the building, and remove the underground storage tanks along with any contaminated soil. In addition, the Phase II report identified high levels of lead and chromium on the property, which will be remediated.
