Property Highlights

The Grantee previously completed a limited phase 1 and phase 2 reports on portions of this of the property. In 2004 the City of New York applied for and was awarded this Brownfield Assessment grant for the site. The Phase I Assessment was completed by July 2005, and showed that past uses left a likelihood of contaminants being present and that further testing was needed. Phase II testing of the site was completed in May 2007 and a final Phase II report was prepared in Fall 2007. In June 2008, Parks was notified that the report was complete and that US EPA had no additional comments on the Phase II report. On February 27th, 2007, the Mayor�s Office, Parks, Corporation Counsel, and NYC Department of Design and Construction had a pre-application meeting with NYS Department of Environmental Conservation to discuss the possibility of entering this site into the NYS Environmental Remediation Program. It was subsequently decided that the city would hold off on submitting a formal application to NYS ERP until after further analysis was completed and the ERP is replenished with additional funds. Additional assessment work is being conducted under a 2006 community-wide grant and a cleanup contractor is being procured in preparation for use of the cleanup funds.
