The River Roads redevelopment project is a large mixed-use undertaking in an older inner-ring community of Jennings. Asbestos was contained so no media impacted and cleanup was not required but selected by redeveloper since demolishing. Remediation, demolition, and redevelopment have occurred in phases. Although the redevelopment suffered as a result of the general downturn in the worldwide economy, several elements of the project have been completed: A 94 unit senior living facility, 17 single family homes, a national restaurant, and a banking facility. A new developer is aggressively working to complete the balance of the project. Updates will be provided as redevelopment proceeds further. Checking with developer on whether institutional controls were required as part of cleanup.

Former Use: For many years, the St. Louis County Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority �LCRA� has been working with the City of Jennings to redevelop the River Roads Shopping Center in Jennings, Missouri. River Roads is a 57-acre site located at the corner of Jennings Station Road and Halls Ferry Road in the City of Jennings, Missouri the �Redevelopment Area�. The Redevelopment Area was used for commercial purposes since the mid 1950s. As consumer preferences changed, the mall fell into a state of disrepair. Over the years, out of town speculaters secured various ownership interests in different parts of the mall further hampering redevelopment efforts.
