Additional Property Attributes

The Site cleanup was funded by a State Brownfield Cleanup Grant (Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development), and private funding, as illustrated in the cleanup funding table. EPA funds were only used to conduct the Phase I ESA. The development is an expansion of an existing facility onto a new parcel. The job retention numbers include both retained jobs (19) and new jobs (3.5). Without the ability to expand provided by the cleanup, the company would likely have needed to relocate. Tax base increase = 26,256 per year.

Former Use: The Site was operated as a bulk petroleum facility and gasoline station from at least the early 1930s through approximately the early 2000s. Harbor City Oil Company owned the Site in the 1990s through approximately 2000. Tanks and distribution systems associated with the former Harbor City Oil Company and with the gas station were removed in the early 2000s prior to, or while, the Site was owned by Brent Kolquist. The former gasoline station building was rented to TAKK Communications at the time that the Site was sold to the Rohlfing Distributing in 2010. TAKK vacated the Site within three months of the Site purchase and the building was demolished in April 2011.
