Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The 1938 and 1952 aerial photographs depict the site as part of a larger agricultural operation until sometime prior to 1963. The 1963 aerial photograph depicts the subject property as fallow field. Between 1963 and 1973 the site is as a laundromat and drycleaners. Beginning in 1973 the site began to be operated as a dry cleaners and laundromat. In 1991, the AST utilized to house dry cleaning solvent was removed from the site. An environmental assessment was completed as part a pending sale, which identified PCE in soil in the areas in the former AST. etween late 1992 and mid 1993, a site investigation and excavation of impacted soils was conducted, which resulted in the removal of approximately 30 tons of PCE impacted soils. In 2006, an additional investigation was completed to delineate the extent of impact on the site for development of bid specifications to remove impacted soils with analytical exceedences in excess of Part 201 Volatilization to Indoor Air Inhalation and Direct Contact Criterias. Groundwater was not identified as impacted as part of the investigation. The area identified as impacted was approximately 30 by 40 feet square and seven feet deep. Removal of impacted soil and backfilling of the excavation was completed and verification sampling VSR were collected. The results of the VSR sampling indicated impacted soils remained onsite. Additional remediation activities were not completed due to the continued operation of the site as a Laundromat and drycleaners. At the time the site reconnaissance was completed on November 22, 2010, Ms. Mary Brown was operating the property as the Cheboygan Laundromat coin laundry and dry cleaning.
