Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The subject property consists of one 1 parcel containing 0.17 acres and located east of South Capitol Avenue. The property is occupied by a 2,349-square foot office building which was originally constructed in 1880. The building is divided into offices, a kitchen, and bathrooms. Interior finish materials in the subject building appeared to be in poor or fair condition. An 827-square foot residential garage, which was constructed in 1949, is located northeast of the office building. Asphalt paved areas are present north of the office building, and overgrown vegetation is present east of the office building. The property is currently vacant of occupants. Standard and other historical sources were able to document that the current building was constructed on the subject property in 1880. Additions were constructed to the northern, eastern, and western portions of the building between 1941 and 1950. A residential garage was constructed northeast of the subject building in 1948. The property was utilized as a residence from initial construction until at least 1955, and was then occupied by various insurance and mortgage companies from at least 1955 until at least 2002. The property has been vacant of occupants since at least 2002.
