Additional Property Attributes

The Site contains one tree-story brick building and cinderblock structure that was constructed in about 1922. The site was used as a school from 1922-1957. Following the construction of a new school, the site became unoccupied. It is unknown if the site had any uses between 1957 and 1970s. For an unknown period of time during 1970s, the Login County Board of Education occupied the site. The site has not been occupied since the Login County Board of Education vacated the premises. P.R.I.D.E. began using the site in about 1992 to store various items including files, construction and weatherization materials. The dilapidated structure has been vandalized since it became vacant, and is in disrepair. The Phase I ESA is being conducted to identify the environmental condition at the site prior to demolition. As results of the Phase I, asbestos containing material was throughout the basement, 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors; mold were observed on the walls, floors and cellings and throughout the interior of the structure. Due to the age of the building, the existence of PCBs in light ballasts, Mercury in light bulbs and lead paint on the walls and lockers were suspected.

Former Use: The site was formerly the location of Logan High School, and later, Logan Jr. High School. The building is now vacant. The structure is in very poor condition, and is not considered a suitable candidate for rehabilitation for new use. Demolition and removal of the building appears to be the best option for site re-use.
