Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Stoelting property is located at 714 Paine Street near 7th Street in the City of Kiel. The property was originally developed in 1918 by the Stoelting Brothers who manufactured cheese making equipment. In the more recent decades, the property housed a single story metal building with three businesses: Stoelting Plyco, a manufacturer and Delta Publishing. The building was razed in late 2005, and the known area of TCE contamination was covered with a tarp. The planned remediation will consist of excavation and landfill disposal of soils in the ?hot spot? area and backfilling the hole with clean fill. Existing and new monitoring wells will be sampled to determine if groundwater contamination returns to normal background concentrations. To facilitate the redevelopment of the property, the City of Kiel has created an ERTID for the Property and is negotiating with Mike Check Builders to redevelop the Property. A developer?s agreement has been drafted and is awaiting funding approval to sign. The planned redevelopment includes the construction of four 8-unit apartment buildings.
