Additional Property Attributes

The property consists primarily of vacant land that intends to be redeveloped by a Commercial/Industrial end user.

Former Use: The property consists primarily of vacant land. Rail beds leaving the former industrial facility traverse the property from north to the northeast. A grass-covered berm is located along the northern property boundary. As noted by the former buildings footprint, operations from the former General Motors facility occurred along the southern property boundary and extended a short distance onto the property. Areas of the property not occupied by the former improvements consisted of mowed grass. The property was acquired by General Motors in 1974 and the facility was constructed in 1976. Prior to 1974, the property was vacant, undeveloped, or utilized for agricultural purposes. The facility was utilized for automotive battery manufacturing since its original construction until mid-1998. Primary operations at the facility included injection molding, lead cell production, and battery assembly. In 2005 the building was demolished and only portions of the concrete slab foundation, relict demolition debris, and the rail spurs remain on the property and southern adjoining site. Delaware Advancement Corporation gained ownership of the property in November 2007 from General Motors Coporation.
