Additional Property Attributes

Two (2) large mill buildings are located on the site that was constructed in the early 1900s. The current owner of the property is interested in redeveloping an underutilized parking lot on the parcel 117-153, but a ?Red Tagged? 20,000-gallon UST occupies part of this area. According to available information, the Site was reportedly first developed sometime before 1884. The site appears to have only been used as a parking lot, for bulk oil storage of fuel oil to run the heating system(s) in the adjacent building(s). The former use of the very small brick storage building remains unknown, but this area of Franklin has had a long history of industrial use beginning in the 1800?s extending to the 1970?s. In fact, the Site was likely used as mill yard that served the previous mill operation known to have occupied the building surrounding (including the building extension and very small brick building). Known past uses of the surrounding buildings and properties in the general area of the Site include: Metal fabrication and machining, paper making, electric generation, wool milling (including dying), and carpentry. On November 7, 2011, the NHDES requested that this UST system be removed and permanently closed due to corrosion protection testing non-compliance. Due to the fact that the tank was in service since at least 1984, there is the potential for spills or releases to have occurred and impacted soil and/or groundwater at the site.

Former Use: The Franklin Business Center site is located at 20 Canal Street in Franklin and is comprised of two (2) parcels of land (Parcel ID?s 117-365-00 & 117-153-00) totaling 4.14-acres. The current owner of the site is Mass Investment Group, LLC c/o Edward Bussiere, Jr. The Mass Investment Group, LLC acquired the property from Joseph Romano Realty, Inc. in December of 2006.
