Additional Property Attributes

The property is located in the center of the downtown industrial district near the downtown commercial district in an area of old and underutilized mills. The property is in a highly developed area served by public sewer, water, and all utilities. There is easy traffic access to the property. The City of Haverhill identified the adjacent property as a priority candidate for redevelopment into mixed commercial/residential use. The Mayor has communicated with a number of interested parties who could undertake such a redevelopment. The property is located within an identified environmental justice community that is eligible for priority consideration under the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs' Environmental Justice policy. Also, the Little River flows within a conduit underneath the property. Groundwater contamination of the property could impact the Little River and result in discharge of contaminants directly into the Merrimack River. (QR 4, 7/1/04-9/30/04)

Former Use: An auto body repair shop and truck garage occupied the property from 1940s - 1993. The City of Haverhill took ownership in 1995. The property is not currently in use.
