Additional Property Attributes

Standard and other historical sources were able to document that the subject property was historically occupied by a fire engine house (with no identified USTs), a residential dwelling and associated residential garage, and two buildings (formerly located on the northern and eastern portions of the property), which contained several retail and commercial tenants. Intended future use includes renovations to the current building for for office space and educational classrooms.

Former Use: Standard and other historical sources were able to document that the subject property was historically occupied by a fire engine house (with no identified USTs), a residential dwelling and associated residential garage, and two buildings(which were formerly located on the northern and eastern portions of the property) which contained several retail and commercial tenants. The fire engine house and dwelling were present in at least 1885 and were demolished by 1934. The northern retail building was constructed between 1885 and 1982 and was demolished in phases between 1913 and 1940. The eastern retail building was constructed in 1925 and was demolished between 1953 and 1955. The former retail buildings contained various retail and/or commercial tenants, including a stove shop, various restaurants, laundry, candy factory/warehouse, bottling works, office, printer, plumber, furniture store, supply companies,electric company, and/or fish market, or were utilized for residential purposes. One of the tenant spaces within the northern retail building was occupied by a laundry from at least 1916 until 1940 and one of the tenant spaces in this building was occupied by a printer in at least 1898.The western portion of the current building was constructed in 1922, with additions to the eastern portion of the building in 1940, 1961, and 1974. The former owner was Old Kent Bank. The building has been occupied by a bank or various professional offices since initial construction.
