Additional Property Attributes

The subject property was originally all used for mining operations. Since the close of the mines and the collapse of the Chapin Pit occurred, property uses have included a municipal landfill, ski jump and City materials storage. The City is hoping to develop water front public access areas and walking/biking paths connecting existing City recreation areas. The attached letter from Vision 2020 is a step in that development.(PPF - Chapin Pit, 12-4-06)

Former Use: The City of Iron Mountain acquired the property in the late 1960's and early 1970's from a Mr. Cochran, the Miami Land Company, and the Chapin Mining Company.
