Additional Property Attributes

Formerly used as a storage facility for an energy supplier, and adjacent to property with known environmental impacts, including lead. A Phase I Environmental Assessment with limited soil sampling was conducted in 2010, which determined total lead levels in the area immediately adjacent to the known environmentally impacted property was above non-residential de minimis levels established by the WV Voluntary Remediation and Redevelopment Rule. Phase I results also suggested the potential presence of petroleum compounds from stained soil and a historical undocumented removal of underground storage tanks, and the possible presence of PCBs from electrical transformers previously stored on the site. Since 2004, the property has been owned by the Morris Creek Watershed Association, which uses the building on the property for watershed association meetings and related use. A portion of the property in used for parking, with the remainder unused.

While under past ownership by an energy supplier company, operations on the property included storage of electrical transformers and various equipment storage. The property is also adjacent to a known property with past environmental impacts, identified as Kanawha Motive Power. This adjacent property was used for lead acid battery manufacturing, repair, and reclamation and was the site of WVDEP and EPA-led cleanup activities.
