Additional Property Attributes

The purpose of the Phase I assessment was to gather information so the City of Akron could make an informed decision regarding whether or not to purchase the property.

Former Use: The Site consists of a large 4-story commercial warehouse and was developed with the existing building around 1919. The site is currently vacant and unused. This 48,000 square foot 4-story warehouse with a basement also included an elevator. The building originally housed a furniture warehouse for Akron Furniture Company. In 1961, Mr. Scherr's father purchased the site from Akron Furniture Company and started the Manufacturer Tire and Rubber Co. The building was used to house tires and tire tubes of various sizes. The site building remained a tire warehouse until the 1980's when it was leased to a distributor of books and soft goods such as window treatments, etc. In the 1990's the warehouse was leased to a drug store distributor. After a break-in during 2007, Household Appliance vacated the building and the building has been unoccupied. Past Owners are unknown.
