Property Highlights

The site has along history. It has had assistance from U.S. EPA removals in conjunction with demolition activities. A commercial company that specializes in building and operating greenhouses on urban brownfields has expressed interest in this site contingent upon the completion of environmental activities.

Former Use: The northwestern portion of the site was developed as the Crown Laundry Company by at least 1915. The site expanded in subsequent years and became the Crown Laundry and Dry Cleaning Company, expanding to the south, east and southeast. By 1965, the site had expanded to encompass the majority of the northern block of East Washington Street between South Oxford Avenue and South Parker Avenue. The site expanded to contain two primary site buildings encompassing approximately 75,500 square feet of space. The site ceased operations in the late-1970s and was primarily vacant. In the mid to late 1990s, the site was utilized for warehousing of equipment and storage. In the early 2000s, the southeastern portion of the building began operation as an automobile garage and repair shop. The site was vacated in early 2011, and the site buildings were subsequently demolished. The site is currently vacant with no improvements.
