Additional Property Attributes

Site also received award from Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) through partnership with IFA for demolition activities.

Former Use: The Site operated as a carriage and harness manufacturing plant from at least 1892 to 1915, automobile manufacturing from about 1915 to the 1930s, and various other manufacturing and warehouse uses to about 2004, with the longest period of operation being that of Walter Piano Company from 1973-1995. A fire destroyed part of the building in August 2012. As a result of the fire, roof collapse, and overall neglect, portions of the building are likely structurally unsound and not safe for occupancy.
