Additional Property Attributes

Based on the findings of the Phase I and II Assessments funded by the brownfields grant, the property owner was able to move forward with redevelopment. He has expanded his Cycles R Us business onto the property as well as leasing commercial space for storage.

Former Use: There are unconfirmed reports that the structure?s first use was as a school, Latex Industries is known to have operated at the Property from pre-1960 to around 1988. Similar operations continued at the Property under Akron Catheter until around 1992. Mr. Theodore (Ted) Trikilis of Medina, Ohio subsequently acquired the Property and ran several businesses from there, most notably AranAqua Pollution Control Systems and PIE International, Inc. AranAqua manufactured/assembled ozone-based air purification units and operated a laboratory presumably for R&D and QA/QC purposes. PIE International was affiliated with Mr. Trikilis? primary business Pro Arts Inc. in Medina, Ohio, a poster company. We were unable to definitively ascertain whether the Property in Chippewa Lake was used for poster manufacturing or solely as a warehouse/distribution center for the Pro Arts business in neighboring Medina. Based on the historical documentation and chemicals found in the structure, it is strongly suspected that posters were printed at the Property. The current owner, Jon Overholt, acquired the Property in November 2012, primarily for storage of parts from his neighboring Cycles R Us business, a new and used motorcycle & ATV parts dealer. His redevelopment goals for the structure include leasing space to commercial businesses and for public storage.
