Former Use: This 8.9 acre site on the Sheboygan River has been used as a furniture manufacturer and finisher since the late 1800s. Business began in 1892 as the Kiel Furniture Company, and then the Kiel Table Company. In 1935, the business reorganized as the A.A. Laun Furniture Company. Materials used for finishing were lacquer finishes characteristic of the furniture industry, including toluene, xylene, napthelene, and ethyl benzene. The business closed in May 2013.
