Additional Property Attributes

Plans to build a destination-quality hotel on this property have been announced. This project fills a long-standing need in the central business district and it will be the first new hotel construction in downtown Akron in 40 years. Investment in the project is expected to be 40 million. The Hotel will feature approximately 160 upscale rooms and suites, a 125-seat casual restaurant and bar with sidewalk seating, extensive space for meetings and weddings, and a state-of-the art fitness center and indoor swimming pool. The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. The meeting and event space includes three ballrooms and multiple smaller meeting rooms, available for local and regional corporate meetings and a destination venue for weddings and other social events. The historic Greystone building, located adjacent to the property will be fully renovated and integrated into the hotel, housing the function space and the restaurant, while continuing to be the venue for live theater productions.

Former Use: The current Site consists of two 3-story interconnected buildings totaling approximately 55,000 square ft. In 1955 the northern building of the Site was constructed, this building houses church classrooms, and offices. In 1975 the sanctuary which had been erected in 1892 was destroyed by a fire and replaced in 1977 by the current sanctuary. The Site has been home to the Church since the middle 1800s and originally was home to a wooden structure that was ultimately replaced by the church that was built in 1892. The Site was home to the High Street First Christian Church until September of 2012, when the church congregation relocated. The Site is currently unoccupied.
