Cleanup of this property will provide public access along the bluff for lake viewing and extension of a bike and walking path from Bender County Park along 1.5 miles of Lake Michigan Shoreline. This is the only area of lakefront public access in Oak Creek and will facilitate and complement planned nearby public uses for sports fields and play areas as well as neighborhood retail, light industrial and residental development.

Former Use: This site was part of the larger 80 acre US Glue and US Gelatin Company, which was later the Peter Cooper Company. Initial glue operations began in 1897 and continued until the facility closed in 1985. Hazardous substances were generated at the manufacturing facilities and then off-spec glue batches and waste materials were staged and disposed of on this 33 acre site. Both solid waste and fill, as well as residuals from historic wastewater treatment lagoons, are present on this site.
