Additional Property Attributes

The site was developed in the 1940s as the operations building for the Tonopah Army Airfield. Nye County has owned and operated the facility as a general aviation airport since 1949 and has been in use as the Fixed Base Operator (FBO) Building since that time. The site consists of the FBO Building, Federal Aviation Administration support buildings and structures, a storage shed, and the land immediately adjacent to these structures. The County demolished the FBO Building and replaced the facility with a steel pre-fabricated structure. On July 30, 2019, representatives from Nye County, the Duckwater Shoshone Tribe, EPA, NDEP, the Northern Nye County Hospital District, the Tonopah Town Board, White Pine County, Senator Rosen's office, and other interested members of the community all came together to celebrate the successful cleanup.
