Additional Property Attributes

Active cabinet shop, with development potential as part of Decatur Arts and Entertainment District.

Former Use: Active woodworking/cabinet shop with one-story commercial building. Located in commercial area. Used to be residential, building constructed in 1986 and was occupied by the Morgan County Department of Human Resources Food Stamp Program, and then purchased by current owner (Scott Shoel) in 1987 and expanded for use as woodworking shop. Company sold to a third party and building is currently leased by company owner. Wastes generated at the site consist of sawdust/wood chip waste and recirculated wastewater from a paint booth. Totes and drums of recirculated paint booth waste water, as well as various sized containers of lacquer thinners, sealants, wood glue, paints, stains, varnishes, and primers present on site. Recognized environmental conditions include stained surface areas associated with past spills; and the long-term historical use of the surrounding area by facilities that may have used hazardous substances/petroleum products or generated hazardous or petroleum-related wastes prior to the advent of environmental regulations (including automotive repair/service facilities, a fertilizer company, underground storage tanks, a sign painting and automotive repair facility and a photo processing laboratory).
