Additional Property Attributes

The 72-acre property is an agricultural property developed with one residential home and six out buildings. St. Clair County who is the owner and operator of Smiths Creek Landfill located adjacent to the west of the site is acquiring the property based on the close proximity to the landfill. It is unknown at this time to wether the County proposes to either use the property for future expansion of the landfill or as a buffer zone of undeveloped green space along the eastern boundary of the landfill. Asbestos building materials were detected in three of the six out buildings located on the property. The building materials with asbestos detections included window glaze, roofing material and siding. It is proposed that these out-buildings will be razed. The residential dwelling located in the northern portion of the site will not be demolished and will continue to be used for residential purposes. Envirologic recommended that all containers of chemicals and unknown contents observed in the interior of the out buildings be characterized and disposed of properly prior to demolition or renovation activities.

Former Use: The subject property consists of one 72-acre parcel located in an agricultural area within Kimball Township. The parcel is developed with one 1,545-square-foot single-story home with a basement and six separate outbuildings located in the northern portion of the property. The remaining portions of the 72-acre property consist of agricultural fields, wooded areas, and vacant portions of land. The property has been developed as a farmstead and owned and operated by the Sturdevant family since the early 1900s
