Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The property occupied by Albert and Sons is located at 503 Third Street and the property directly south which was also investigated during this RA is located at 518 Third Street, La Salle, La Salle County, IL 61301 (see Figure 2). The 518 Third Street property is also known as 506 Third Street. The two sites each cover approximately 0.5 acres. The 503 Third Street property has one building located on the property that occupies approximately half of the property. This building is approximately 2815 square feet. The 518 Third Street property is a vacant lot. The Albert and Sons property was once a service station that had three gasoline underground storage tanks (UST) and one used oil UST located on the property. It is not known when the company stopped operating as a gasoline service station. As soon as 1997 the facility was operating as a small auto/motorcycle repair shop that generated used tires. Two of the gasoline tanks were 4000 gallon USTs and one was a 3000 gallon UST. The used oil tank was a 1000 gallon capacity. According to the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshall, the tanks were removed from the 503 Third Street Albert and Sons property on April 15, 1998. The 503 Third Street property is comprised of one structure that is approximately 2815 square feet. The structure consists of a one story cinder block building. Currently the building is used as a service garage. The property to the north and east is used for residential purposes. And the property to the west is a bank. The remaining portion of the property is covered with concrete, asphalt and gravel. The 518 Third Street property across the street is paved with asphalt and used for a parking lot. A vacant building exists to the east and residential property is located to the south. A bank is located to the west.
